It's no secret that I love to read and while it seems like a lot of the books on my list lately seem to be on the heavier, deep thinking level it's always nice when fun but meaningful books find their way onto my reading list.  :) During our Christmas break this year, I was able to spend some time reading A Pocketful Of Pinecones by Karen Andreola.
It is a fictional story of a family during the 1930's that homeschool's using the Charlotte Mason approach.  It's written in a journal format sharing parts of their daily life, homeschooling journey and how their nature study evolves.

Pocketful of Pinecones was a light, easy read yet it was chalk full Charlotte Mason quotes and poems on nature.   It's a sweet and gentle story that would encourage any home schooling mom in their journey.   It's one of those stories that just makes you smile.

It filled my heart with thankfulness and excitement that we are able to walk down this road...

  1. I love that you are reading something by her. She inspired me so many years ago while schooling you and to see you liking her writing is a blessing. I hope you have lots of fun while away and maybe even get some pictures.
Your pup is missing you guys but played with Shannon this morning and is playing with Sadie right now. Hugs.

  2. Sounds like a great book!

It's funny, because I have a vague memory of seeing that book in my mother's reading pile back when she was homeschooling us.

I didn't know it was about Charlotte Mason education! I'll definitely have to check it out now. :)

By the way, have you started reading the Original Homeschooling Series yet?

  3. I've read this, too! It really is a great, simple read and so full of wonderful ideas! Hmmm... maybe I should read it again! :o)

  4. I've been trying to locate that book. I read her Charlotte Mason Companion this summer and loved it.
