The Simple Things

My boys love playing in the dirt. In fact, they love it so much that when we moved from California to Colorado late last year one of their biggest concerns was if they would have a spot of earth to enjoy.

In California they would use our vegetable garden area during the winter as their dirt paradise. They would make race tracks for their cars, lakes of water to jump in, anything their little imagination could think of.

They were a little concerned when they first saw our house after moving in because they did not see any ready dirt to play in. Thankfully Daddy quickly showed them a little area on the side of the house that they could use. They've since been building houses and swimming pools. John-John's newest thing is trying to make a house from rocks and using mud as the mortar. We've looked at books and read stories of how they use to make homes and he is now trying this out in our backyard.

I love watching them enjoy such a simple thing.

But at the same time, you should see them when they are done playing. Oh. My. Goodness. Can we say dirty? We usually have to wash all of their clothes and they usually need a bath.

The Joys of boys...

And now to go talk to some little boy about throwing mud pies against the fence.  :)
