The Beauty Of Chores

Chores.  The word can cause many different feelings or thoughts to jump into the mind... maybe you are reminded of a long list of things that need to be accomplished, an overwhelming feeling will plague you, or you just have a plain dislike for what needs to be done.

For me though, I love finding delight in doing the chores around our home. I love knowing that in doing the chores I am serving those in my family and those that enter our home. I love the feeling of a clean home so I enjoy cleaning the bathrooms and vacuuming.  For me (and I know it is different for each person) having a clean home helps create a peaceful home.  As much as I enjoy the "cleaning" chores because of what they produce, my favorite chore is laundry.

Yes, we have a TON of laundry. Being a family of six with four little ones just creates a lot, but I love spending the time needed to fold and put away the endless piles of laundry.  That time is such a rich, beautiful time for me.  As I am folding the laundry of my loved ones, I am beseeching the King of Kings for them, for their needs, for their lives and for my role in serving and encouraging them.

So, what are your favorite chores and why?

"She... works with her hands in delight"  Proverbs 31:13

  2. You are such a Godly example of a wife and mother! I love cleaning - as you know :)
I love vacuuming - it seems to help get energy out and it purifies the dirty build up on the floor, it reminds me of how God can cleanse our spotted and tarnished souls.

  4. I hate chores. But I was reminded today about dying to self. This post echoes that sentiment. I'm glad you wrote it and I'm glad I found it. I'm going to keep tuning in to your blog.
